Work Readiness Group

The CGS Pre-Vocational Program has been part of our total rehabilitation program since 1979, serving consumers with multiple and longstanding barriers to employment, including:

  • Low socio-economic level with multiple family and social problems
  • Multiple medical problems
  • Lower academic levels
  • Consumers with emotional disturbances of moderate severity

PreVocational Services (PVS) assists consumers in addressing skills deficits, physical and mental health conditions, and completing basic employability preparation. The PVS program ranges from 65 to 195 days, with the length determined by consumer needs and rate of progress. Components of this pre-employability period address consumer needs in the through clinical services and instruction in the following areas:

  • Medical
  • Familial
  • Vocational Exploration
  • Psychological
  • Social
  • Remedial

Career goals become the basis of discussion and exploration. Based on successful completion of the PVS program, the consumer is prepared to enter a Work Adjustment Training Program or Specialized Vocational Training at CGS.
